Story - Bank Merchant Andy Dufresne is convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover, and sentenced to life imprisonment at Shawshank prison. Life seems to have taken a turn for the worse, but fortunately Andy befriends some of the other inmates, in particular a character known only as Red. So not a prison yard with rival gangs in which one has to be as cool as possible. It just describes the deep friendship that may arise. In this case, the friendship between an elderly black man who are already 20 years old and a young, intelligent and calm man who has just come unjustly serving life. This young man, Andy Dufresne, is cut from very different kind of wood than the rest. He founded a library, carves chess pieces and teaches at the less gifted prisoners. I think it's a beautiful film : Quiet and filmed decent. Emotional moments and finally quite a good feel-good movie.
I am also very beautiful as they describe how the prison was initially hell. But that occurs after a period of time habituation. After lapse of further time one becomes dependent on the walls and does one just warn the outside world.

Imagine going to prison in 1927, nine years after WW1. Then getting out in 1967, during the height of the Vietnam war. that would be just crazy for the human brain to dissect. I have never met anyone who doesn't like this film. The best thing about the film is getting to know the characters. The pace of the film is perfect. Every scene gives meaning to a great finish. This is basically a prison film that takes the time to let you get to know all the characters, where they come from, and in most cases where they are headed. No spoilers from me. If you have not seen this film then it will be much better knowing as little as possible about it. There is so much I can say about this film but I will end right here. Enjoy if you have not seen.
